What to Expect During Your Home Building Journey

Building a home can be a source of anxiety, bringing up many concerns that matter to you as a homeowner. When you partner with Legacy Home Builders, you can expect expert guidance, transparent communication, and integrity throughout the process—ensuring no surprise costs will push you over budget. Here’s an overview of our home building process:

Staking

Lot Area

To outline the footprint of your house and garage, our partnered engineering team will place stakes or laths at each corner where two walls will intersect.

Excavation & Foundation

To establish a solid foundation, our concrete team will set up and pour concrete footings to support your basement and garage walls. Once the footings are set, the foundation walls are carefully poured to complete the structure.

Plumbing/Groundworks

Our partnered plumbing company installs the piping beneath the basement floor, connecting it to domestic water lines, sanitary drains, and storm sewer drains at the street for seamless integration.

Backfill

After allowing the concrete to cure for five to seven days, our excavation team returns to backfill soil alongside the foundation walls. Sand is added inside the garage to prepare for the garage floor, and a layer of gravel is spread on the basement floor, setting the stage for the basement concrete pour.

Concrete Flatwork Phase One

A trusted concrete flatwork team pours the concrete for the basement floor, garage floor, and, when needed, the front porch, ensuring a smooth and durable finish.

Framing Carpentry

Framing carpenters arrive to build the structural framework of your new home. This stage includes installing floor joists, walls, roof trusses, roof sheathing, windows, exterior doors, and siding. Depending on your design, they may also construct a rear deck at this time.
